2017 Funded projects

In 2017 IFCAH funded projects on Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia for an amount of 350000€. Following IFCAH’s call for projects, 13 letters of intent have been received. Among them, 6 projects have been pre-selected for being reviewed and auditioned by the scientific committee the 19 of June 2017.

Pr Michel Polak (president of IFCAH’s scientific committee) announced on September 15th 2017 the selected projects at the International Meeting of Pediatric Endocrinology in Washington (USA) in front of 4000 endocrinologists from around the world. Selected projects are listed hereafter:

“Adrenal stem cells: identification, generation and culture for genetic modification”, Dr Schedl, iBV Nice, France, 120 000 €

“Cell-Based Therapy for the Treatment of Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia”, Dr Bréault, Boston, USA, 120 000 € (100 000€ AFM)

“A systems biology approach towards the understanding of the pathophysiology of congenital adrenal hyperplasia”, Dr Krone, Université de Sheffield, 110 000 €

2016 Funded Projects

In 2016, IFCAH exceptionally funded projects on Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia for an amount of 448 000€: following IFCAH’s call for projects, 21 letters of intent have been received. Among them, 18 where eligible and 7 have been pre-selected for being reviewed and auditioned by the Scientific Council the 4th of July 2016.

Pr Michel Polak (president of IFCAH’s scientific committee) announced on September 10th 2016 the selected projects in front of 4000 endocrinologists from 105 countries at ESPE congress (in Paris this year):

  • “The aetiology and characteristics of testicular adrenal rest tumours”, Claashen,(Nijmegen) funding: 66 000 €
  • “Prospective study of pregnancy outcomes in women treated early by dexamethasone for congenital adrenal hyperplasia.” , Bachelot,(Paris) funding: 50 000 €
  • Sodium wasting, water balance and fludrocortisone needs in Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia: the NaCAH Study”, Martinerie,(Paris) funding: 72 000 €
  • “Optimizing fertility outcomes for women with CAH- an assessment of endometrial function and pregnancy complications “, G.Conway, (London) funding: 000 €
  • “Study of CAH adrenocortical cells reprogrammed from urine: a step towards cell therapy”, L .Guasti , (London) funding by AFM-Telethon : 100 000 €
  • “Adrenal Crisis Emergency spray”, Ross, (Sheffield) (renew 2015), funding: 60 000 €

Selection of IFCAH Granted Projects 2016

The IFCAH scientific committee held a meeting the 4th of July in Paris for auditioning the projects received for the 2016 call.

The official announcement of the selected projects funded by IFCAH in 2016 will be made by Prof. Michel Polak, president of the scientific committee, on the 10 of September at the ESPE (European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology) congress held this year in Paris.

The granted projects will also be published on the IFCAH website.
